Our 2023 Quarter 2 Initiatives to Help Our Communities Get the Most Out of Life

Our purpose of helping people get the most out of life has always motivated us to do what we do. Permeating this culture throughout Prudential, we would like to share with you our initiatives to give back to the communities in the first quarter of 2023.

Duit Right Plus

Duit Right Plus is a financial literacy programme that teaches secondary school students in Malaysia about the seven key concepts of money management: Earning, Saving, Spending, Donating, Debt, Investments, and Insurance. The programme aims to empower students with the knowledge and skills they need to make smart financial decisions and develop good money management habits. We reached out to 221 students from SMK Kelana Jaya in June to bring out the importance of healthy financial habits.

PRUKasih Entrepreneurship Programme

The PRUKasih Entrepreneurship Programme is a collaboration with Taylor's Community to provide business knowledge and emotional readiness through a year-long programmme for participants to apply in their businesses to increase their income. We kickstarted the cohort of 2023 with 52 participants in April with each session running biweekly, with topics ranging from Mental Health to Marketing and Sales, and Risk Management.

Farming for Food Security

Underserved communities often face limited economic opportunities, leading to financial instability and socio-economic disparities. Seeing positive results from our cohort 1 of our Farming for Food Security programme, we have extended the programme for 2023 to involve 50 families from Kg Nabahan, Kota Belud Sabah. Focusing on enhancing food security, sustainability environment and income, participants will be exposed to friendly environmental practice by embracing organic farming methods and minimising chemical inputs.

PRUKasih Aman

We continued our efforts in providing financial protection to the underserved communities in Malaysia through PRUKasih Aman, an affordable and sustainable protection plan for underserved families who are financially vulnerable to income disruptions. We mobilised 76 PRUVolunteers to reach out to over 9 communities through our 10 Acceleration Drives. With over 6000 members protected by PRUKasih Aman, we continue to seek out opportunities in underserved communities to provide financial protection.

AVPN’s Jugaad – Asian Youth for Impact

According to a survey by the Securities Commission Malaysia, Malaysian youth find it difficult to manage their finances well, with most of them having low financial literacy. Through AVPN’s Jugaad programme, we engaged with a group of Young Impact Leaders to brainstorm and prepare potential solutions to improve financial education and literacy among the youth in Malaysia.

We are extremely thankful for the support from our partners and from our PRUVolunteers in sharing the passion to help those in need. We look forward to continue helping underserved communities in Malaysia to get the most out of life.
