Our 2022 Quarter 3 Initiatives to Help Our Communities Get the Most Out of Life

Our purpose of helping people get the most out of life has always motivated us to do what we do. Permeating this culture throughout Prudential, we would like to share with you our initiatives to give back to the communities in the third quarter of 2022

Our CSR efforts extended to help the communities of Miri and Bintulu through our PRUCare Misi Bantu, a collaboration between Prudence Foundation, Prudential Malaysia and ZER0HUNGER dedicated in providing food aid to the B40 communities. With the help of Persatuan Ibu Tunggal, we were able to distribute food aid packages to almost 200 families around Miri and Bintulu.

We continued our Beautiful Gate Sustainability Programme initiative to help the residents from Beautiful Gate Foundation for the Disabled to grow and sustain their home-made coffee business. This quarter sees our participants moving into the implementation phase where they start implementing what they have learned in the previous quarter into building their business, BG Coffee. Our online sessions’ focus is building on their competency by focusing on practical skills from business reviews to lead generating from social media.

We ran our Congregated Financial Education Programme with Agensi Kaunseling dan Pengurusan Kredit (AKPK) and DuitRight Programme for Teenagers at Perumahan Awam Desa Rejang in Setapak, PPR Intan Baiduri in Kepong and PPR Batu Muda in Kuala Lumpur. The aim of this initiative helps us build financial literacy in both adults and teenagers in areas where financial education may not be very accessible. With our PRUVolunteers facilitating the activities, our hope is that we help make financial literacy fun and accessible to every demographic.

We continued our PRUCare Farming Project to empower underprivileged rural communities in Kampung Bakilong at Kota Belud, Sabah. With the help of our PRUVolunteers, we were able to help the community rebuild the vegetable crops that were damaged by the weather while fixing the vegetable nets to protect the crop from insects. On top of that, our PRUVolunteers are able to see how the tilapia fishpond that they helped build in their previous visit helps the community with an additional source of income. We are grateful for the opportunity to help the community’s farming efforts and bringing up the quality of life there.

As of July 2022, our financial education program for secondary school students, Duit Right Plus Online, has impacted 8,500 students nationwide. We are proud to have educated our teens on the importance of money, and we want to do more. To create awareness on our programme, we are introducing the Duit Lah! Campaign to see more secondary school students in Malaysia be financially empowered through this campaign. We are also proud to be recognised as the Company of the Year (Insurance and Investment) and Long-Standing Excellence Award at the Sustainability and CSR Awards 2022 in August. We are honoured to have our commitment to help the underserved communities and students in Malaysia to achieve financial resilience through our flagship community investment programs – PRUKasih, Cha-Ching and Duit Right recognised.

We are extremely thankful for the support from our partners and from our PRUVolunteers in sharing the passion to help those in need. As we approach the last quarter of 2022, our reflection towards how we have been able to play a part in our fellow Malaysians’ lives will continue to guide our future initiatives.
