Prudential Launches Just Run Virtual Challenge to Encourage Exercising Among Malaysians

KUALA LUMPUR, 10 July 2018 – Prudential Assurance Malaysia Berhad (PAMB) has launched the inaugural edition of Prudential Just Run, an initiative that aims to encourage Malaysians to adopt the habit of exercising regularly in order to stay active and healthy.

Prudential Just Run is a three-month virtual run challenge that encourages Malaysians to form the habit of exercising be it walking, running or hiking. The challenge sets a target for each participant to cover a distance of 200km in three months, with the registration period lasting from 2nd July to 30th September 2018. Once registered, participants will be able to track their accumulated running results throughout the months of August to October 2018 with Strava, an app which can be downloaded both from Apple Store and Google Play. By paying a registration fee of RM80, participants will also receive a race jersey, e-achievement badges, finisher e-certificate, and limited-edition finisher jersey.

According to data released by the Ministry of Health (MOH), only 40% of Malaysians practice a healthy lifestyle and have the habit of exercising[1]. With this data, it is also revealed that 73% of deaths through cardiovascular diseases in Malaysia can be avoided if we practice a healthier lifestyle. These alarming statistics have triggered PAMB to look into the overall health and wellness of Malaysians and launch Prudential Just Run to rally Malaysians to lead a healthy lifestyle.

“At Prudential, we recognise that protection not only encompasses financial peace of mind but also one’s health and wellbeing. Looking at the current lifestyle of people with busy schedules as well as the increasing trend of using electronic devices to track their health and fitness, we decided to launch an initiative that will encourage them to consciously embrace a more active daily routine,” said Eric Wong, Chief Customer & Marketing Officer, PAMB.

He further emphasized, “Leading a healthy lifestyle can be inexpensive and easy to do so. Nowadays, with the advancement of technology, free fitness applications and online workout videos are easily accessible. We want to encourage Malaysians to utilize these to lead a more health-conscious life and achieve their dreams. When one is healthy, they will find it easier to accomplish the personal goals that they have set.”
