Top 5 diagnoses were Cancer, Heart Disease, Stroke, Kidney Disease and Brain Disease/ Injury.
- Critical Illness is appearing at an earlier age. 15% of critical illness claims were paid to those aged 40 and below.
- Heart disease and stroke are more prevalent among men, accounting for 89% and 64% of related claims respectively.
Death Claims Payout
Overview:
- Top 5 causes for death claims were Cancer, Heart Disease, Accidents, Pneumonia and Infectious Diseases.
- Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) have become the leading cause of death and disease burden in Malaysia1.
- Cancer and Heart Disease are the leading causes of death claims payouts, at 30% and 21% respectively.
