Prudential empowers the Children of Yayasan Chow Kit to achieve their dreams

  • As the official insurance partner of the 29th SEA Games and the 9th ASEAN Para games, Prudential Assurance Malaysia Berhad (PAMB) organized the ‘Hold on to your dream’ workshop to encourage and support the children of Yayasan Chow Kit (YCK) to dream big and work hard to achieve their dreams.
  • As the proud supporter of dreams, PAMB provides Malaysian families with financial protection through each life stage as they work towards achieving their dreams.
  • PAMB will donate RM29 to YCK for every video generated under the engaging charity platform - #PRUDreamPencilChallenge.

 

KUALA LUMPUR, 23 May 2017 – Prudential Assurance Malaysia Berhad (PAMB), the official insurance partner of the 29th SEA Games and the 9th ASEAN Para Games, otherwise known as Kuala Lumpur 2017 (KL2017), and the proud supporter of dreams recently organized the ‘Hold on to Your Dreams’ workshop to encourage and support the children of Yayasan Chow Kit (YCK) to dream big; to stay focused on their ambitions; and to have confidence in themselves to achieve their desired dreams.

We believe that everyone deserves to dream and every dream should be achievable with hard work, grit and support. Every child, regardless of their background, should have the same right to develop their potential in all situations and at all times. We believe that this collaboration with YCK will have a positive impact to the children – we want to help every children achieve their dreams and enhance the lives of the children and their families,” said Fiona Liao, Chief Brand Officer of PAMB.

In conjunction with KL2017, the dream workshop featured fun, educational and inspirational activities for the children of YCK. The participants consisted of 40 children ranging from the ages of 8 -18 years old, all eager and excited to share their hopes and dreams with each other. Yayasan Chow Kit is driven by the simple philosophy that every child matters, and strives to ensure and protect the rights of all atrisk children and teens in the Chow Kit area by providing them with a centre that exposes the children to educational and recreational opportunities.

“At YCK, we believe in upholding the respect for children’s rights and recognise that all children are born free and equal with dignity and rights regardless of the status of the child. Hence, we do not only provide safe havens’ for children at risk but also expose them to as many positive and holistic opportunities to enable them to reach their full potential – and finally, to help them achieve big dreams in life. Programmes like this are impactful as it brings positive and motivational support to our children, empowering them to believe in themselves,” said Ananti Rajasingam, Chief Operating Officer of Yayasan Chow Kit.

As part of the dream workshop, the children of YCK were encouraged to express their dreams freely through paper, crayons and colour pencils. The ‘Dream and Draw’ session created a platform for the children to share their dreams, and build self-confidence through the support and encouragement showed by the others.

Hasihin Sanawi, National Paralympian, Archery, joined the Dream Workshop to share his inspiring journey in becoming a national athlete. Children were inspired by the touching and emotional story of Hasihin as he shared about never letting go of his dream to become a national athlete, and how he stayed positive and conquered the obstacles in life to become a silver medallist in the 2012 Paralympic Games despite the limitation of his physical mobility.

As part of supporting the dreams of the children of YCK, Prudential also revealed the #PRUDreamPencilChallenge where children and guests, recorded a video of themselves balancing a pencil between their nose and upper lip, and reciting one of their dreams. Then by posting the video on their social media platforms and challenging two of their friends to take on the challenge – PAMB will donate RM29 to YCK. 

As an insurer, PAMB wants to provide Malaysian families with financial protection and peace of mind throughout their different life stages. Everyone has dreams that they want to achieve. Through the sponsorship of KL2017, PAMB aims to support Malaysian families with financial solutions, so they can focus on fulfilling their dreams and aspirations.
